About Us

Based in the countryside of Morristown, Tennessee, Leading Edge Machining was built from the ground up through hard work, precision, and a passion for machining.

Leading Edge Machining was founded in June of 2013, but the passion behind it started long before that.

In 2012, while driving home after another long workday, my girlfriend Alivia said something simple that would end up changing our lives:
“I wish we could do something else for work.”

I told her, “We could always start a machine shop.”

She said "Yes lets do it!"

So what started as an idea quickly became reality. We found a used Bridgeport mill, a manual lathe, and a surface grinder, and set up a small shop built on determination, hard work, and a willingness to learn as we went. Days were long — often 14 hours or more — but we believed in what we were building.

A few months later, I purchased a small desktop CNC mill and began producing CNC-machined parts. In June of 2013, Leading Edge Machining officially opened its doors.

In the beginning, growth was challenging. We knew that to truly compete and expand, we needed full-size production equipment. Taking a chance, we applied for financing on a Haas VF-2 CNC mill. At the time, it felt impossible that we would ever be approved for a machine of that caliber — but we were.

Five weeks later, a flatbed semi carrying our new VF-2 came rolling up our driveway with a rigging crew behind it. That moment changed everything.

From there, the real work began.

We entered the high-end RC parts industry and began manufacturing precision components for enthusiasts across the country. Some of those original product lines are still being produced and sold today. A few years later, we expanded again with the addition of a Haas ST-10 CNC lathe, dramatically increasing our capabilities and allowing us to machine a much wider range of precision parts.

Today, Leading Edge Machining operates multiple CNC machines along with a variety of manual equipment, giving us the flexibility to handle everything from prototype work to production machining.

Based in the beautiful countryside of Morristown, Tennessee, we continue to grow while staying true to the values the company was built on:

  • precision

  • hard work

  • honesty

  • and pride in craftsmanship

Machining has been a part of my life since 1988. After completing all four years of machining classes in high school and a couple years later becoming a certified machinist, what began as a trade became a lifelong passion. More than 37 years later, that same passion still drives every part we make today.
